Job Description:
Manufacturing Engineering: Direct the Manufacturing Engineering
team to ensure the effective implementation of design principles
into the manufacturing process. Oversee the selection of equipment
and tools, ensuring they align with production requirements. Drive
continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality,
cost-effectiveness, and production throughput. Organize and lead
the Engineering team, focusing on improving overall efficiency and
productivity. Implement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma to
streamline manufacturing processes and reduce waste. Optimize
workflow, layout, and production schedules to enhance operational
performance. Development Engineering: Lead the Development
Engineering team, concentrating on the optimization of specific
manufacturing processes. Collaborate with R&D to transition new
products from concept to production, ensuring seamless integration.
Implement and maintain process controls to ensure consistency and
quality in the manufacturing process. Support the troubleshooting
of failures on the manufacturing floor. Military Program Proposal
Writing: Develop and write proposals for military programs,
outlining the engineering capabilities and solutions our company
can offer. Collaborate with the business development team to align
proposals with military program requirements and objectives. Site
Maturity and Leadership Coaching: Assist in maturing manufacturing
sites by implementing best practices, process improvements, and
operational efficiencies. Coach the team to enhance their
capabilities in managing and optimizing manufacturing processes.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional
teams, acting as a subject matter expert, to seamlessly integrate
processes into overall operations. Collaborate within a team
environment to enhance manufacturing processes, providing valuable
insights and technical expertise. Team Organization and Management:
Organize and lead engineering teams focused on Development
Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering, and Tool Engineering.
Ensure each team is aligned with organizational goals and
objectives, fostering a collaborative and innovative work
environment. Research, Innovation, and Best Practices: Conduct
extensive research and stay abreast of industry trends to drive
innovation and continuous improvement. Implement best-in-class
practices for process optimization across diverse domains.
Technical Guidance and Mentorship: Provide expert technical
guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and production teams
within each specialized area. Foster a culture of learning,
development, and collaboration among team members. Compliance and
Standards: Ensure strict adherence to safety, quality, and
regulatory standards in all manufacturing processes. Risk
Identification and Mitigation: Identify potential risks in the
development and optimization of processes. Implement effective risk
management strategies to ensure operational continuity and minimize
disruptions. Strategic Direction and Department Management: Provide
strategic direction for the Manufacturing Engineering Department
within a plant. Monitor reports to ensure engineering projects are
completed within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. Develop the
team to ensure effective, efficient manufacturing operations and
drive continuous improvement. Provide hiring, promotion, and
disciplinary action recommendations, as well as performance
evaluation and feedback for direct reports. Department Processes
and Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement department
processes and procedures for continuous improvement. Approve
process changes consistent with the organization's short-term
production plans. Lead the most complex, large, or difficult
engineering projects and develop innovative approaches to
production problems. Identify the cost, time, and resources
required for repair projects; prepare proposals for new work
products; monitor the progress of work against estimates. Monitor
industry trends and developments in engineering technology and make
recommendations on equipment/systems investments. Lead and direct
the manufacturing engineering department to achieve department
goals and objectives and foster the development of employees.
Qualifications: Bachelor's or higher degree in a relevant field
(e.g., Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical
Engineering, Mechanical Engineering). Proven ability to think
strategically. Strong knowledge of materials properties,
formulations, and production processes. Excellent problem-solving
and analytical skills. Effective communication and leadership
abilities.
