Job Purpose

The Principal Solution Architect contributes to the design and development and maintenance of Interfaces and APIs for the overall NationalGrid IT Solutions. The Architect lead technical teams through multi-phased delivery projects and provide hands-on delivery guidance to influence technical standards for development, governance, and operational life cycle.

  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for owning and delivering design and development in one or more of the following Node js, Express js, Springboot, MuleSoft.
  • The candidate will own reviewing design elements and signing off on the overall technical design.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the system accurately meets the defined expectations of the business, ensuring that proper testing is implemented, and performance and security requirements are closely monitored by working with the project teams.
  • The candidate must also have experience providing level of effort estimates for technical portion of solutions.
    Key Accountabilities
    • Lead technical teams through multi-phased delivery projects and provide hands-on delivery guidance for API development
    • Participate in all phases of software development life cycle including development of technical requirements, prototyping, coding, testing, deployment and support
    • Define and manage the technology landscape and blueprint for entire solution stack
    • Build, orchestrate, and deploy complex integration patterns between system, process, and experience layers of API
    • Provide programming and technical expertise to ensure business solutions are met
    • Ensure consistent best practices, processes, and procedures for software development, quality assurance, and maintenance
    • Identify technical risks and opportunities for each product
    • Engage in sprint planning, delivery and managing the releases
    • Work with Product Development teams to align engineering efforts to business value
    • Interpret requirements to develop APIs and integrations using Agile methodology
    • Design and Implement APIs as per the design specification and National Grid architecture standards
    • Ensure that code, configurations and other work products are thoroughly unit-tested prior to delivery
    • Perform code reviews and other quality checks as requested
    • Participate in system/integration testing as appropriate
      Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
      • Good stakeholder management and influencing skills at project stakeholder level
      • Good written and verbal communications skills

        Qualifications
        • Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field
        • 15+ years software development experience; 5+ years API development in Cloud Platform
        • Experience architecting capabilities utilizing the following technologies: Linux OS, Enterprise Application Integration Design Patterns, Application Servers, Java, XML, JMS, MQ, and Maven
        • Experience with:
          • Azure PaaS and SaaS; App Service Fabric, App Service Environment, API Management
          • JSON, REST, APIs and high scale performant service facades
          • Azure Identity Management and Security; Service Bus; Event Hub; Event Grid
          • Azure Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
          • Azure Operational and Monitoring tools
          • API & WebService testing tools: SOAP UI, Postman, Advanced REST Client
          • D efining API specs, API Gateways, Mule Run Time Fabric, Anypoint Platform, Access Management, Mule Runtime, Mule SDK, MUnit, Dataweave, Runtime Manager
          • Integration product architecture
            • Technology design that includes Performance, Security, Availability, Operations, Monitoring and Support
            • SQL, CosmosDB, Cassandra, Mongo DB, NoSQL, Managed File Transfers
            • Integration best practices, design principles for a range of application technologies
            • CI/CD via Azure DevOps Services
