Job Description SummaryTo perform cardiac ultrasound procedures of a professional level on all patient population serviced by South Shore Health & Educational Corporation other than pediatric patients. Responsible for the safety, mental and physical comfort of the patient. Salary Range: $42.00-$56.53/hrJob DescriptionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1 - Performs complete study including M-MODE, REAL TIME, COLOR FLOW MAPPING and DOPPLER.a - Acquires all necessary images and measurements according to lab protocols b - Interprets all techniques giving internal dimensions, wall motion and flow pattern analysis. c - Quantitative abnormal valve areas calculating gradients.2 - Obtains permanent records of examination. a - Looks up patient information and previous echo exams in the patient's electronic medical records system b - Completes exam documentation and billing info in the patient's electronic medical records3 - Contributes professional knowledge to final diagnostic impression or report. a - Writes preliminary interpretation for physician review. b - Informs physician during reading session of any non-conventional views taken.4 - Stores daily examinations performed. a - Ensures that all studies download correctly to GE server.5 - Technology - Embraces technological solutions to work processes and practices. a - Able to utilize GE reading station including burning CD, downloading casesb - Able to utilize Epic (Electronic medical records)c - Able to utilize the electronic method of calling down inpatients in a timely and efficient manner.6 - Safety Awareness - Fosters a "Culture of Safety" through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment. a - Practices MD notification of "red values" as described in policy.JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum EducationAt least a (2) two year Echocardiography accredited program including technical and clinical training culminating in an associate degree or higher.Minimum Work ExperienceAt least (1) one to (2) two years experience preferredRequired CertificationsRDCS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS Required Classes/SkillsBLS - Basic Life SupportRequired additional Knowledge, and AbilitiesAbility to demonstrate competency in echocardiography.Must be able to recognize abnormal structure and be able to correlate this information into a useful study.Must be able to deviate from normal techniques, when necessary, to develop new techniques.Must be able to utilize ancillary devices, i.e., selected transducers
