Raytheon’s Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC),
Surface Radars & Sensors Center department is seeking a highly
skilled and detail-oriented Senior Principal Engineer, with
expertise in sonar signal processing, acoustic signal processing,
and data analysis. Our Portsmouth, RI team primarily supports
programs in the naval undersea and naval surface domains including
sensor systems, mine countermeasures, submarines, torpedoes, combat
systems, naval radars, and ship architecture/integration. This role
requires an independent contributor capable of delivering impactful
results as a subject matter expert. The position involves
performing comprehensive requirement analysis, evaluating system
performance, and conducting in-depth analysis to uncover
opportunities for new functionality and enhancements, ensuring our
solutions address evolving needs and achieve optimal outcomes. What
You Will Do - Conduct data analysis, such as acoustics, radar, and
sonar data using tools such as MATLAB. - Perform requirements
analysis, development, and management. - Support planning and
execution of Integration, Verification, or Test activities. -
Prepare and present results in reports and briefings to internal or
external stakeholders. - Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in
sonar signal processing, acoustic signal processing, and related
disciplines to support Systems Engineering initiatives. - Provide
technical expertise and guidance on the development and
implementation of advanced signal processing algorithms and
methodologies. - Analyze and interpret sonar and acoustic data to
identify trends, validate models, and drive decision-making
processes. - Collaborate with engineering teams to facilitate the
development and adoption of systems engineering standards, tools,
and processes. - Stay updated on industry trends, emerging
technologies, and advancements in signal processing to bring
innovative ideas to the team. - Travel, domestic, to support
customer events, with an expected travel requirement not exceeding
15%. What You Will Learn After completion of comprehensive
on-the-job training, the candidate will be a part of a team
supporting Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC)
activities across the product development lifecycle. Qualifications
You Must Have - Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology,
Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of
prior relevant experience. - Experience with sonar system,
algorithms, and/or acoustic signal processing. - Experience with
MATLAB, Python, and/or other programing languages. Qualifications
We Prefer - MS or PhD in Engineering - Experience in analyzing and
interpreting large datasets to identify trends, uncover patterns,
and deliver clear, actionable insights that inform decision-making
and drive measurable results. - Proven ability to prioritize and
manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining clear and
effective communication with team members and stakeholders to
ensure deadlines are met and goals are achieved. - Experience with
troubleshooting technical issues with electronics including the use
of common commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum
analyzer, etc.). - Extensive knowledge of both theoretical
frameworks and practical applications within the discipline, as
well as a strong track record of contributing to organizational

salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary
range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all
